Was Jesus too lazy to finish the job? Here’s the story: A good friend of Jesus named Lazarus died. By the time Jesus gets to Lazarus, he was already in a tomb. Jesus called Lazarus out of death and out of the tomb. What happens next carries a significant lesson for you and me. And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!” John 11:44 (NLT) It is interesting to me in this passage that … [Read more...]
The world is full of mixed messages. Like when I ask my wife, Stephanie, where she wants to go for lunch on my day off. Most times she will say, “Wherever you want.” So my response is “Ok, how about In and Out” (a local burger joint). She may say the word “fine,” but I have learned over the years that when a wife says “fine,” it does not always mean “fine” as the word “fine” is actually defined. I learned this the hard way, several times in fact. The world is full of mixed messages and the … [Read more...]
What is the one common denominator in all our lives regardless of where you live, the size and scope of your ministry or your family situation? We are all BUSY! Almost everyone I know is “busy.” Even if they really aren’t busy, they feel compelled to say they are busy because everyone else is. We all agree life is just a little more complicated than it used to be and it does not seem to be letting up. But no matter what demands or expectations are placed on my shoulders, the stewardship of … [Read more...]

Most of the time when someone confesses to having an affair, being addicted to pornography, dealing with dark depression, wanting to quit their job and simply run away, the story begins with those words…“I didn’t think it could happen to me.” In the last several weeks, I have been a part of conversations with people who unfortunately uttered those words as they confessed a secret … [Read more...]
Okay, maybe that’s a little strong. Let me start over. Hello, my name is Steve Adams and I’m addicted to connection. I didn’t think I was, but apparently I am addicted to connection. Now in all fairness, I’m not as bad as some people I know. I know people who literally can’t be separated from a mobile device…phone, iPad, etc. While I have NO trouble ignoring email, I did notice something about myself this week. You see, I took some vacation time with the intention of simply “doing nothing.” … [Read more...]
Do you remember a super hero team called “The Fantastic 4”? These guys gained superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during scientific mission to outer space (Nerd alert). There was The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, The Thing and lastly Mr. Fantastic. Mr. Fantastic, the scientific genius and the leader of the group, could stretch his body into incredible lengths and shapes. He was a human rubber band. Sometimes I feel like a human rubber band. No one has ever called me “Mr. Fantastic” … [Read more...]
