Sector 5 – Day 4: Hope

Today I am sharing our teaching outline and video testimony for Day 4 of our summer event called Sector 5. Enjoy!

Key Verse:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)

Day 4:

Key Dimension – Hope

Truth – I can have hope because the Master is in control. Hope helps me to see that everything will be ok.

The enemy is trying to steal my  Hope

Bible Story – The Lame man by the pool

Application

This guy had been sick for over 38 years. He was waiting by the pools of water at Bethesda for a miracle. Lots of people who were blind, lame or paralyzed would wait near the pools hoping they would have a chance to be healed. They believed that if the waters of the pools were stirred, the first one in the water would be healed. And this guy waited for 38 years to be healed. He didn’t really know how it would happen, but he had hope. He knew it could be different and waited for his chance to be healed. He didn’t know Jesus but when Jesus asked him if he wanted to be well, he knew it was all going to change. When you hope, you believe that your life can and will get better. This guy had hope. He waited for 38 years, hoping his life would turn around. Jesus was his hope. Jesus healed the man and changed his life. Jesus is still our hope today. Things may not be the way you would want them to be, but Jesus brings hope. Because Jesus brings hope, we can know that the bad things can go away and new and better things come along. If your life is not what you want it to be, don’t lose faith. Trust in Jesus because He brings hope, hope for a better day.

Video log 4:

Will it ever end? I sure hope so. I’m trying to keep up the fight, I’m trying to do what is right, but I’m tired and it’s hard to see how this is going to end. Actually, I can’t see how it’s going to end. But the Master tells me he has seen the end and we win. I have to trust him no matter what. Even when it looks hopeless, I have to believe that the Master is in control. The Flatlanders keep saying I’m wasting my time and fighting for the wrong side. They keep saying all the good things I’m doing are pointless and won’t matter in the end. Boy, I hope that’s not true. What am I saying?

I know it’s not true. I know the Master is telling the truth. I know my life and all the things I do will make a difference. I am fighting for the winning team and no matter what…I wouldn’t do anything for the Flatlander. He is a liar and I know he hates me. But the Master loves me. He wants me to have a life worth living. He has good things for, I just know it. So I’ll keep fighting, doing what’s right, reading the Masters words…I’ll keep hope alive.
