Hey guys, here is the teaching outline and video testimony for Day 3 of our summer event Sector 5. Hope it gives you some great ideas.
Key Verse:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)
Day 3:
Key Dimension – Self-worth
Truth – You are God’s Masterpiece. God created you the way you are for a reason.
The enemy is trying to steal my Self-worth
Bible Story – Gideon
Application –
Gideon didn’t think much about himself. Actually, Gideon didn’t have much confidence at all and believed he wasn’t worth much. He didn’t think God could use him to do anything special. After all, Gideon was not the coolest kid in the neighborhood, he wasn’t the best looking and he certainly was not the most talented. But God didn’t see him that way. God saw Gideon as His masterpiece. You see, Gideon was God’s own creation…just like you and me. And God said that each of us are His very special work. He created us himself with certain talents to do certain things. Gideon didn’t see himself the way God saw him. Gideon believed he was nothing special, but God wanted Gideon to know that he is special.
You might not think you are very talented, you might not think you are very special, but God does. Even if people at school say mean things about you, you can’t listen to them. They didn’t create us, God did. So we listen to the one who built us. And He says we are His special masterpiece. Our self-worth is not determined by what other people say, it’s determined by our creator. And we are worth so much to Him that He sent His own son to die for us.
Each day the drama began and ended with a “video log” by one of the characters.
Video log 3:
It’s hard not to believe the lies. When you hear something said over and over, you start to believe it. The Flatlanders have been saying for a long time that we are losers, we are dumb, ugly and other things.
The book says we are created in the image of our Master. It says we are the one thing He is most proud of…His masterpiece. I don’t feel like a masterpiece. But I’ve learned to trust the Master. He knows and sees things that I don’t. And probably never will. That’s why I trust Him. He always has come through for me. Even if it’s not what I think it should be. I know what I am, what I do, what I look like, what I act like…I don’t feel like a masterpiece, but the Master says I am so I’m taking His word for it.
I am a masterpiece…no Flatlander will take that from me.
