Sector 5 – Day 1: Security

I thought I would share with you guys the lessons we taught the kids each day at our Summer event called Sector 5. My previous post explains the event so I’ll simply give you the big picture of what we taught.

One of the cool things we did was show a video testimony each day that featured one of our elementary age kids. It was a pretty simply concept but was incredibly effective. The kids loved them! I’ll attach the corresponding video testimony with each days lesson…check it out.

For day 1, we taught about the dimension of SECURITY. Here is the basic outline:

Key Verse:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)

Day 1:

Key Dimension – Security

Truth – I am not alone…God is here with me.

God is always with us and there are many others on this journey with us.

The enemy is trying to steal my Security

Bible Story – Elisha

Application –

Elisha wanted everyone to know that God was the one true god. And God used Elisha to do some really cool things, even miraculous things. But even though Elisha was trying to do what is right, others didn’t want to listen to Elisha. They didn’t want to admit they were wrong and change from their wicked ways. This scared Elisha and he tried to run and hide from these people. While he was on the run, he felt so alone. In fact, he thought he was the only person who believed and lived for God. But God told him that he was not alone. There were others who believed in God and lived for God. But not only that, but God never leaves us. No matter how we feel or what happens in our lives, God is always there. We may not be able to see him with our eyes or hear him with our ears, but we know that God was with Elisha and we know that God is with us now.

Each day the drama began and ended with a “video log” by one of the characters.

Video log 1:

There is a war going on between the lines. Sometimes it feels real and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s hard to understand what’s going on. I hear that “the good guys” will win, but today it doesn’t feel that way.

I know I should trust the King of the Dimensions and I want to, but sometimes it’s really hard to do.

I read His words to me and it makes me feel better…gives me hope. But then something else happens and I wonder if he is even there. Are you there? Can you hear me right now? See, nothing. If he is almighty and all-powerful, then where is he?
